Richard Harkness, Ed.D., is Chief
Executive Officer. Dr. Harkness, a founder of
ADEPT in 1995, creates business and marketing
models that accelerate technology transfer from
"think tanks" to product implementation.
Using these models, Dr. Harkness assembled the
ADEPT Advisory Council and directed product design
of teenSMART and other ADEPT products. The measurable
impact of ADEPT products are directly related
with his lifetime career commitment to psychological
testing and statistical analysis. He continues
to provide the vision for the ADEPT management
team, product development, marketing and strategic
planning.
Prior to founding ADEPT, he headed SERP, a public-private
partnership that leveraged $30 million in incentives
into $250 million in sales of new technology refrigerators.
This venture involved the national recruitment
of electric utility members supplying 80% of the
nation’s electric power, executive leadership,
worldwide press and media events and securing
an advanced business clearance from the Department
of Justice. Introduction of the CFC-free, super
energy efficient refrigerators revolutionized
the industry and permanently changed the environmental
and energy standards of all refrigerators manufactured
in the United States.
In the course of his 30 year career, he has provided
management and consulting services to American
Savings Bank, Apple Computer, the Department of
Defense, Hewlett-Packard Company, Hilton Hotels,
Pacific Gas and Electric, Sun Diamond Growers,
Syntex Corporation, Vision Service Plan, VONS
and numerous governmental agencies. Dr Harkness
has held teaching and administrative positions
at three universities: University of the Pacific,
University of San Francisco and National University.
He has served as a Professor of Marketing and
Management, teaching a variety of MBA-level courses,
and as a Professor of Psychology, teaching graduate
level courses in Psychometrics, Statistics and
Counseling. Dr. Harkness received a BA degree
in psychology, an MA degree in educational psychology,
and an Ed.D. degree in Psychometrics/Educational
Psychology, all from the University of the Pacific.
