Is the teenSMART discount available to my teen?
American Commerce Insurance Company’s (ACIC) teenSMART discount is available to any licensed driver under the age of 21 who has successfully completed the teenSMART program and meets any state-specific eligibility requirements. Note: ACIC offers the teenSMART discount in certain states only. Check with your ACIC agent for availability in your state of residence.
How much can I save on my teen's auto insurance?
Savings will vary. In many cases, savings may exceed the cost of the program and over a three-year period could potentially save you hundreds of dollars. Your ACIC Agent can help you calculate your savings using your annual premium.
How is the ACIC teenSMART discount applied?
When a teen becomes certified with the program, ADEPT Driver sends the teen’s certification information directly to ACIC and the discount is applied effective the date that the teen became certified.
How is long is my ACIC teenSMART discount applied?
The discount is applied effective the date the teen passes the certification test, and is removed at the first policy renewal after the teen turns 21.
Can teens who have already had an accident qualify for the teenSMART discount?
Initial eligibility requirements vary by state. Check with your local ACIC Agent to determine whether your teen would be eligible for the discount. Even without the insurance savings, you may help reduce your teen’s risk of a crash.
Do customers need to purchase a separate copy of teenSMART for each teen?
One complete program provides only one teenSMART certification. However, if there are multiple teens in the same household that wish to participate, additional certification units may be purchased at a discounted rate with a valid priority or coupon code. Additional certification units contain only a unique certification identification number and an additional student workbook as the teens will share items from the complete program.

How does the teenSMART certification process work?
When the teen has completed all portions of the course, he or she will be allowed to take the certification test. Teens may take the test as many times as they need to in order to pass. Teens send their test results back to ADEPT Driver, where a Certificate of Completion will be generated and sent to the teen for their records. ADEPT Driver will send certification results to ACIC weekly. ACIC then verifies that the teen is eligible for the teenSMART discount and applies the discount to the policy.
