The complete teenSMART program consists of a teenSMART Certification license, Student Workbook, Parent Guide, Driving Practice Manual, Parent-Teen Activity Video (DVD or VHS), and a 6 CD-ROM set. Customers who order additional certification licenses at reduced prices will just receive an additional Student Workbook. Other program items will be shared.

There are three elements to the teenSMART program. All are done at your convenience at home:

1. Computer-based driving tutorials are completed on the home computer using the set of 6 CD-ROMs. The CD-ROM sessions provide hands-on, in-depth practice. Teens are asked to demonstrate specific driving skills and are given immediate, interactive feedback.

2. Parent-Teen Activities include a lively and informative video, accompanied by a Student Workbook and Parent Guide. These materials provide easy-to-follow, step-by-step instructions for completing the program. With in-car driving sessions conducted under parental supervision, teens apply what they have learned to real-world driving situations.

3. The final program element is a Certification Test completed on the home computer. Teens receive ADEPT Driver certification once they pass the test and send their test results to ADEPT Driver.

Estimate eight to ten hours to complete the entire eight-step program. Approximately half of the time is allotted to Parent-Teen Activities, which include in-car driving exercises. Computer Time Activities and the at-home Certification Test take up the remaining time. Each program step can easily be completed in an hour.

When the teen has completed all of the Computer Time activities and entered the codes from the teenSMART Parent-Teen Activity Video, they will be allowed to take the Certification Test. Teens may take the test as many times as they need to in order to pass. When the teen has passed both parts of the Certification Test, they will see a message on the computer screen congratulating them and they will be allowed to send their test results to ADEPT Driver via the internet. The program does not automatically print a certificate of completion. Customers without an internet connection will be given instructions to send their test results.

Once the test results are sent to ADEPT, they will be uploaded into ADEPT's database and a Certificate of Completion will be generated and sent to the teen. This process generally takes about a week plus mailing time.

1. A driver's license or permit for the teen driver
2. A TV and DVD Player or VCR
3. Any personal computer with the following: Windows XP, 2000, ME, 98SE or 98; 32 MB RAM; Pentium 200 MHz processor; 30 MB available hard disk space; 4X CD-ROM drive; 2MB video RAM; audio card, speakers and a mouse. An internet connection is recommended, but not required.

teenSMART is NOT currently Macintosh compatible, but Macintosh owners have successfully completed teenSMART using Virtual PC. However, ADEPT cannot provide technical support for Macintosh systems.
