Founded in 1995
ADEPT Driver was founded in 1995 to provide a program that would significantly reduce automobile crashes among teen drivers. We began by looking beyond the limits of traditional pre-licensing driver education by using a medical model starting with epidemiology studies to identify six factors that were causing more than 90% of car crashes involving teens. This research allowed us to build effective neuro-cognitive psychometrics and driving simulations.
After 5 years of intensive research and development, we introduced teenSMART®, a science-based training system that has been enthusiastically received by parents, insurance company actuaries, and others committed to improving teen driver safety.
In 2005, we turned our attention to another sector of the population that could benefit from our medical/scientific model: Drivers 55+. This segment experiences collision rates second only to teen drivers and is the fastest-growing age group. Again, our research revealed critical factors that were being ignored by other driver education programs. We introduced Lifelong Driver® after 6 years of research and development. Lifelong Driver® addresses the leading causes of crashes among mature drivers.
In January of 2020, we introduced Advanced Driver® for drivers aged 20-60. This new product is embedded with our science-based neurocognitive training that has proven to reduce crash frequency and severity.
In 2026, we released our latest innovation, the DrivingIQ® Assessment™, used to evaluate a driver's crash risk before training.
We use the data derived from the DrivingIQ® Assessment to create a training program personalized for the individual driver’s needs. The DrivingIQ® Adaptive Learning™ program uses a diagnostic and prescriptive model that is unique in driver safety training and is revolutionizing the effectiveness of crash reduction training and underwriting accuracy.
Our crash avoidance systems have been evaluated by insurance actuaries for over 25 years and are approved by the DOI in 49 States for discounts much larger than ineffective DMV approved courses. Why? Because we reduced crash frequency by up to 40% and Bodily Injuries up to 52%. Our products and data paired with telematics products and data provide the ultimate solution for improving underwriting accuracy and Insurer loss ratios.
